I did follow that guide (installing the CUDA 9.0 toolkit) when I tried to install the GPU version. Neither the CPU version nor the GPU version are working on my PC.
Should the CPU version still work on a PC running an NVIDIA graphics card?
Did you also copy the cudnn files to the nvidia folder?
Yes, I copied cudnn files to the nvidia folder when trying to install the GPU version. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything again today, and I got the same error. I checked the debug log and noticed this error keeps popping up:

Did you ever try the CPU version? You need of course uninstall the Nvidia Toolkit to get it work.
Yes. I completely uninstalled CUDA and the Nvidia Toolkit, tried the CPU version, and it also failed to load.
C’mon guys! This is BS. Many cannot get this to load. Same problem for me. I have an NVidia GeForce 9500 GT. Doesn’t work for me. This whole business about CUDA is nuts too. NVidia cards are easily the most common. I’m finding the program can be closed when it hangs using the Task Manager (Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete), then end the task which speaks about Java.
Is that the problem? DAE relies on Java? Isn’t Java a dying thing? Whatever the problem… fix it! I love DAE on my Android but it would be so much better on the PC. Hell… if it worked I might even pony up and pay for it.

There will be something, interrupting the download. We have seen this behavior on some (a small percentage) of windows 10 machines. I myself am running on Win 10 - 64 bit without a problem. Both CPU and GPU tested.
To help identify the culprit, please disable or exclude the program from AV / Firewall like applications. If that doesn’t help please make a dump of all processes that are still running on your machine, during the time you get a download styles fail. Export that and send it to my colleague Julia at [email protected]
I just paid $100 for this software on your black friday special, I have exactly the same problem as everyone else, it hangs at the “Downloading Style…” window. I’ve tried many things. I may have to ask for a refund if we all have a similar problem and there is no fix.

Can I ask you why you are running the GPU build (beta) ?
Did you try already with the CPU based build ? If not please download the normal CPU based build and try again
CPU-Based build is sloooow for videos. Are we supposed to setup TensorFlow as well?
For debugging purposes (i.e. figuring out why the styles download are not completing) I could recommend to install the CPU based build. Which is not beta, and not reliant on CUDA etc.
The download initiates but doesn’t complete. This would indicate that something is interrupting the download before completion. Most likely candidates are AV software or security suites.
If you could try the CPU version, we have a baseline to work with and can exclude other causes in third party elements such as CUDA.
Also for diagnosis purposes, please try excluding from or turning of AV or Security Suites that could impact the download of the style.

Hello there! You have a really cool program here btw. I have the CPU version and it works fine, just very slow. No antivirus, just stock Windows Defender/ Microsoft security essentials. I have excluded all DAE files from being scanned. What’s next?

You can’t do this using the task manager itself, but you can use the built-in tasklist command line program to do it. Open a command prompt and use the following commands:
- Type
tasklistto output a list of all the currently running processes - To output as a csv, type
tasklist /FO csv - To save the output of the command line to a file, add
> filename.csvto the end of the command; for example,tasklist /FO csv > "%userprofile%\desktop\tasks.csv".
For full documentation on the various options for what to output, type tasklist /? into the command prompt.

Hello Memnon. I will create documentation, but the CPU version runs with no problems. I can also use StartDAE to launch, but still does not seem to be using GPU. I am mostly interested in this product for video production/creation/inspiration, which is why the GPU is necessary in order to save vast amounts of time (and electricity

@kingofpain thanks for confirming the CPU version runs without problems. So in that case, there is no local issue preventing the download and the issue might be something else entirely.
With regards to the GPU based.
Please make sure you have followed How To: Install Deep Art Effects GPU exactly. Often mistakes are made by incompatibility of the videocard, or the wrong placement of the cudnn or the fact that Cuda 10 is then used and not Cuda 9.0 as is intended.
I have the same problem. When I add a photo, the program stops when I download styles.
I am using the CPU version.
I also used the solution suggested by Memnon. I downloaded assets from https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/assets.deeparteffects.com/model-assets.zip and copied to the .deeparteffects folder. Unfortunately, this solution also does not work. After copying assets I start the program. When the program is stuck on downloading assets, then I check the .deeparteffects folder and all files are deleted by the system or the program there.
