Software Freezes when loading an image

Hello. I downloaded and installed the Deep Art software to my Windows 7 computer this afternoon. The software starts fine and I choose the free trial option. However, when clicking on FILE and try to open a photo to work with a small box opens up saying it is downloading STYLES and counts to 100. I have tried 4 times now and each time it freezes between 94 and 99% complete. It stays this way and the software freezes up and will not continue or even shutdown. I need to restart computer to force.

Exact same thing happens to me.
I tried downloading the latest version of Java - Version 8 update 261 (build 1.8.0_261-b12)
Uninstalled Deeparteffects and reinstalled and it still keeps happening. I too tried 3 or 4 times, with reboots in between some.
I use the application and like it on my phone.
Wanted to try the desktop version before I purchased it!

Did you download the gpu (beta) version? For gpu to work correctly you need a nvidia graphics card.Otherwise you shoud use the cpu version download

I am having this exact issue. I recently switched to a clean, newly refurbished PC running an unactivated version of Windows 10 (64-bit):

• Nvidia Quadro FX 3800 graphics card
• 24 GB RAM
• 650 GB free disk space
• Java 8 Update 261

I’ve tried installing both the gpu (beta) and cpu version of Deep Art Effects – Completely uninstalling, re-installing, and rebooting Java and the NVIDIA drivers multiple times.

Every time I re-install, load Deep Art Effects, and upload my initial image, a “Downloading Style…” popup appears and gets to anywhere from 50/100 to 93/100 before freezing the entire program, and I have to go to the Task Manager to end the task: “Java ™ Platform se binary.”

I’ve attached a screenshot. Perhaps this has something to do with the latest Java update? Or the fact that I’m running an unactivated version of Windows 10? Please let me know if I can provide any more details to help!

I am using an Nvidia graphics card, however to test I downloaded and installed from the link you provided in response. Same issue again… this time it got to 97/100 and the software is completely frozen up. I can’t close the box and can’t close the software itself.

Here are my system details.
Dell Precision Workstation
2 x Intel Xeon E5520
16GB Ram
NVidia GEForce - 512MB Dedicated.
4GB total combined video

I should have no issue running your software.

Did you follow this guide when using the GPU version? You have to install additional software to run the gpu version.

I did follow that guide (installing the CUDA 9.0 toolkit) when I tried to install the GPU version. Neither the CPU version nor the GPU version are working on my PC.

Should the CPU version still work on a PC running an NVIDIA graphics card?

Yes, I copied cudnn files to the nvidia folder when trying to install the GPU version. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything again today, and I got the same error. I checked the debug log and noticed this error keeps popping up:

"style … is out of date!"

Can you advise?

Did you ever try the CPU version? You need of course uninstall the Nvidia Toolkit to get it work.

Yes. I completely uninstalled CUDA and the Nvidia Toolkit, tried the CPU version, and it also failed to load.

C’mon guys! This is BS. Many cannot get this to load. Same problem for me. I have an NVidia GeForce 9500 GT. Doesn’t work for me. This whole business about CUDA is nuts too. NVidia cards are easily the most common. I’m finding the program can be closed when it hangs using the Task Manager (Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete), then end the task which speaks about Java.

Is that the problem? DAE relies on Java? Isn’t Java a dying thing? Whatever the problem… fix it! I love DAE on my Android but it would be so much better on the PC. Hell… if it worked I might even pony up and pay for it.

There will be something, interrupting the download. We have seen this behavior on some (a small percentage) of windows 10 machines. I myself am running on Win 10 - 64 bit without a problem. Both CPU and GPU tested.

To help identify the culprit, please disable or exclude the program from AV / Firewall like applications. If that doesn’t help please make a dump of all processes that are still running on your machine, during the time you get a download styles fail. Export that and send it to my colleague Julia at [email protected]

I just paid $100 for this software on your black friday special, I have exactly the same problem as everyone else, it hangs at the “Downloading Style…” window. I’ve tried many things. I may have to ask for a refund if we all have a similar problem and there is no fix.

Can I ask you why you are running the GPU build (beta) ?
Did you try already with the CPU based build ? If not please download the normal CPU based build and try again

CPU-Based build is sloooow for videos. Are we supposed to setup TensorFlow as well?

For debugging purposes (i.e. figuring out why the styles download are not completing) I could recommend to install the CPU based build. Which is not beta, and not reliant on CUDA etc.

The download initiates but doesn’t complete. This would indicate that something is interrupting the download before completion. Most likely candidates are AV software or security suites.

If you could try the CPU version, we have a baseline to work with and can exclude other causes in third party elements such as CUDA.

Also for diagnosis purposes, please try excluding from or turning of AV or Security Suites that could impact the download of the style.

Hello there! You have a really cool program here btw. I have the CPU version and it works fine, just very slow. No antivirus, just stock Windows Defender/ Microsoft security essentials. I have excluded all DAE files from being scanned. What’s next?
